This is a favorite spell because it's actually a lot of fun when it starts working.
Gnomes are Earth Elemental spirits. I wish I could say they look like this but "looks" are a tricky thing when it comes to spirits. They can look like a rock, or a root sticking out of the ground, or a tuft of leaves that move very human like when seen from the corner of the eye. But they are very friendly and easy to work with if you are open to them.
Making friends with the gnomes has great benefits. They're very predisposed towards helping you find treasure, but can also help with prosperity workings and other spells that involve acquisition, such as shopping. I've used my relations with the gnomes to find a good deal on a car, to shop for antiques, and for wildcrafting herbs in the forest.
Find a wild mushroom. You'll want it to be in good shape and about the size of the kind of mushrooms you buy in the grocery store, but don't buy a mushroom at the grocery store... That's cheating and disconnects you from nature in the processing of the spell. It doesn't matter what kind, because you will not be eating it. An amanita muscaria would be ideal but chanterelles are also pretty. If possible obtain this on the new moon. You are going to dry it out. Place on a paper napkin or clean cloth in a dry area of your home (such as your altar)for about 2 weeks.
Once the mushroom is dry, buy or make a pouch out of organic material (cotton, wool, linen, silk, leather... I'm vegetarian but I'll still use rescued/reclaimed leather from the thrift store for magical pouches). Use colors like brown and green. It should be large enough that it can loosely hold your dried mushroom. It should have a drawstring cord that you can wear around your neck. Place the mushroom, a piece of silver(real silver such as a mercury dime), and a pinch of moss in the bag. If you have room, you can add crystals that are full of Earth Elemental energies, such as clear quartz, jasper, aventurine, malachite, or jade. Make it your own and add decorations that are an earthy aesthetic.
Take your bag to an Earth Energy power spot. What I mean by this is go to a place that is strong with the element of Earth but also spirit. Use your intuition. If you're not sure or have not yet developed your sensitivity, go to a secluded area in nature where there are trees, or boulders, or a mountain, or a cave. If you live in the city, go to the park, or take a trip to the country. The point is to connect with Earth Elemental energy before your continue the spell.
Feel the gravity beneath your feet as you hold the pouch open before you. When you are ready... centered, focused, energized... Take a deep breath and whisper the following words into the pouch (your breath should go into the pouch as you speak) :
Earth to Spirit, Spirit to Earth
Elemental spirits I call to with mirth
(say 3x or chant until you've filled the bag with your invocation)
Place the bag on the ground before you, and walk around it counterclockwise (Widdershins) to connect you with the spiritual forces of the earth.
As you do so say, "I call upon the gnomes to teach me your ways and guide my steps towards any treasure I may find." If you want to drop names your can call upon them in the name of Ghob, the earth Elemental king, but it's not really necessary. Return to the center and pick up the bag. At this point you may say aloud or visualize any specific treasure you seek.
Next tie the bag closed using 3 knots, then put the pouch around your neck. Say, "By the element of Earth, I walk with the gnomes." Sit and quiet your mind for a few minutes as you attune yourself to the gnomes. When finished, signal that the spell is done in whatever fashion you deem appropriate then go about your day.
For this spell to manifest, you must be willing to listen to your intuition. Follow any impulses you may have. One time I used this spell and as I was passing by an antique store on the way home from work, I felt this powerful curiosity come over me to go inside. When I did, I found a sizable cast iron cauldron for $15. Another time, I was wildcrafting herbs, and I had the urge to look in the creek for rocks. I found a holey stone. Another time, I had an impulse to go to Goodwill in the middle of a relaxing Saturday afternoon. I left with $20 worth of 1970's out-of-print occult books, which at Goodwill means almost 20 books at 99¢ apiece plus tax.
That's treasure to me. Treasure to you might be Funkco Pop Witches (OMG these are super cute!), sports tickets, or money. Yes, the gnomes can help you find money in small amounts or find a job to make real money. Gnomes can help you trade stock or buy real estate. Or point you to the lucky slot machine. There are so many possibilities.
This spell expires in one year from casting. I find that it works better if you dab some whiskey on the bag about once a month. You can reuse the pouch and silver but you must replace the botanical ingredients.
